General Background:
The National park is well-established to protect representative ecosystems and conserve the tiger and its prey species. The Park has covered an area of 968 sq.km. in the western Terai. In 1988 the area became the National Park. The park extends from ground Churia Hills, southward to the gentle slope of the "Bhabhar" - The higher ground of Churia has a dry, deciduous forest covered with the hardwood of sal.
What to Observe in Bardia:
Bardia is host to more than a hundred species of trees. The porous slopes of the Bhabhar support large, open grassland, known locally as 'phantas' These are some of the last remaining grasslands that a larger number of mammals live in and around the plants. So they are the best places to view animals, the most conspicuous of which, is the spotted deer.
The Western boundary consists of the numerous waterways of the Karnali, which have created many large and small gravel islands. During the spring season, the silk cotton blooms and the forest looks so amazing with the scarlet flowers and amazing natural lush vegetation.
Locals in Bardia:
The original Inhabitants of Bardia were the Tharu people, who possibly migrated from the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, Whilst fleeing Muslim persecution, in about the 13th century. They cleared areas of forest in order to plant their crops and supplemented their diet with plentiful game and fish. Much of the Nepalese Terai is Still populated with the Tharu people.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Kathmandu to Bardia 8-9 Hrs Drive
Description : After breakfast we will drive out of Kathmandu valley. The road snakes through the scenic mountainous region with Himalayan backdrop to Bardia. A private car/ public bus with an experienced driver makes the journey pleasant. Bardia National park is the last undisturbed vestiges of genetic plains. Check in the Lodge in the vicinity of Bardia National Park and join activities like village tour, visit to Elephant breeding center and bird watching.
Stay Overnight at Hotel in Bardia.

Day 2 : An Exploration Day in Bardia
Description : In the morning, go for an Elephant safari inside the Bardia Jungle. Scrumptious breakfast will be waiting for us at the lodge. After breakfast, give a bath to the elephant.
