Our office representative will welcome you at Tribhuwan International Airport upon your arrival and then transfer you to the hotel. Take some rest at the hotel and later visit Create Himalaya Adventure’s office. A welcome dinner will be offered in the evening along with a tour briefing by our team.

After breakfast, you begin your sightseeing tour by visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites within Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Durbar Square:-
Kathmandu Durbar Square showcases Nepalese art and architecture at its best. The architecture is typical of the Malla dynasty who ruled over Nepal from the 12th to the 18th century.
Swyambhunath:-
Swyambhunath Temple is popular among foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large monkey population residing in the area.
Pasupatinath:-
Pasupatinath Temple is situated on the banks of the Bagmati River and is one of the principal temples of Lord Shiva.
Bauddhanath Stupa:-
The Bauddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupa's in South Asia. Meet your guide at the office and prepare for your trip.

We take flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, we then take a jeep to Num passing through Hururu.

We continue along the trail descending steeply from Num through the cornfields of Lumbang. Below the village, the trail drops very steeply through a jungle to a suspension bridge over the Arun River (660 m). From the bridge, we climb steeply to a primitive tea shop, then through corn and buckwheat field. Moving along the rocky path and tiny terraces planted with corn and barley, we make a long, steep, rough climb to Sedua.

Leaving Sedua, we make a gradual climb high above the Kasuwa Khola to Gyang (1770m). Climbing past the school at Gyang, it is a gentle walk through terraced fields and forested areas to Hindrungma village, and on to Rupisa. En route, we cross meadows and several streams and then climb to the Sherpa village of Tashi Gaon.

We climb over the ridge and ascend through forests to a stream and onto a ridge where there is a small campsite. The trail levels out, and then climbs to a shepherd’s hut called Chipola atop another ridge. We climb past two small streams, then switchback up the ridge in forests to a Kharka at 2900 meters and up to a saddle and Unshisha, a tiny meadow at approx. 330 meters. Here the trail joins the ridge that separates the Iswa and Kasuwa drainages.

We climb steeply through rhododendron forests to the top of the ridge, with a large mani wall adorned with prayer flags. From here, we get superb views of Chamlang, Peak VI and Peak VII. Following the ridge for a while, we ascend a stone staircase. After a few false summits, the trail veers left off the crest to a small lake. We then climb gently up a shallow rocky gully to the Kike La (4127 m). From the pass, we descend to another lake and then ascend steeply through large boulders to the Tutu La. We continue descending about 150 meters into sparse rhododendron forests to a level area.

We descend a steep gully with a stream for about 500 meters. We then move left through fir forests, along the flank of the Barun Valley. Moving along ill-defined trail, we cross a 200-meter-long slide area, and then follow the river to a Kharka. Moving through forests of birch and scrub rhododendron, we reach Yangle Kharka. We Climb from Yangle Kharka, finally crossing to the north side of the Barun Khola to reach Nhe Kharka.

Beyond the Nhe Kharka, we follow the north bank of the Barun Khola for a while. We then cross a small wooden bridge before the river turns northward. The Barun Valley makes a huge S-shaped curve and the walls rise almost vertically 1500 to 2000 meters above the river, but the trail climbs gently as we approach Ripok Kharka. Still on the north side of the Barun, the trail turns westward and leaves the rhododendron forests for alpine tundra.There are excellent views of Pyramid Peak, Peak 4, Chamlang, Peak 3 and Peak 5, but Makalu is not yet visible. As we pass a ridge the glacier turns slightly north.

We stay to right in a gully on the east side of the valley. It is gradual descent to a minor pass about 100 meters above Makalu Base Camp. We then descend to a stream, cross on boulders to the base camp on the west bank of the river. An ascent of this buttress yields views of Peak 6, 7 and Baruntse (7220 m); Everest and Lhotse complete the panorama.

Today is a rest day for acclimatization and exploration.

We retrace our steps down the Barun Valley towards Nhe Kharka.

From Nhe Kharka, we continue descending through the forests to Mumbuk. From here we get beautiful sunset views of Makalu and Chamlang.

Leaving Mumbuk, we trek across the Shipton La and descend to Kauma.

Today we make a long steep descent back to Tashi Gaon. At Tashi Gaon we spend the rest of the day relaxing in order to recover from the high altitude.

Trek to Kasuwa Khola Valley back to Sedua, then turn south down the west bank of the Arun River. From Sedua, The route now enters the hot bottom lands of the Arun Valley. Most of the settlements in this area are temporary settlements used by Rai and Chettri farmers who live in villages high on the hillside above.

We take a jeep through temporary farming settlements to the spread-out Rai village of Walung (880m). The trail descends to the Apsawa Khola and crossing it on a suspension bridge we climb steeply to Chhayang, a pleasant Rai village with an extensive bamboo-pipe water supply at 800 m. We continue through forests and pass several small streams to reach Tumlingtar.

1. I hadn't tried trekking till date. Should I have to do training for Makalu Base Camp and Arun Valley Trekking?

If you are physically fit, you don’t need any training for trekking even if it’s your first time. You must walk for a 5-7 hour per day during the trek and the trail are uphill and downhill with a rough path so that you must be physically fit. And we had set such itinerary that’s make the trek a bit easier and more adventurous. The more you are physically fit, the more you can enjoy the trek.

2. Is Makalu Base camp and Arun valley Trekking difficult?

This trekking destination is comparatively hard trek then other but it’s ok if you are physically fit. The Makalu Base Camp and Arun Valley trekking is of 23 days as you must walk for the 5 -7 hours per day for the 18 days. The trekking trail is rough, uphill and downhill. As the trial is not paved so the trial is rocky somewhere, so you must be careful if you have a weak ankle and the trail is also filled with the snow depending upon the season.

3. What sort of different facilities can I expect in the trekking trail?

You can expect a standard room at a 3-star category hotel with breakfast and launch in Kathmandu. But along the trekking trail, there are the tea houses and lodges providing the facility of accommodation and food. They provide the clean mattress and blanket as we offer you a Create Himalaya sleeping bag which is a good idea to have your own sleeping equipment (Sleeping bag must be returned after the trip). The lodges in trekking routes provide single or double bedrooms. The food during the trekking trial provided by the tea houses/lodges is delicious of mostly vegetarian fare. During the time of touring in the city area, you can be served with the local food as well as western food. Trekking in the high Himalaya, you will be served with the basic western food and local food. The local foods like Tibetan’s fries’ bread, soups, steamed and fried dumplings (momo), steamed and curried vegetable (Tarkari), different varieties of potatoes, lentils, and rice (dal-bhat). Different varieties of meats are also served by the tea house. The tea house served the eggs, toast, peanut butter, hot porridge, muesli, and local honey in the breakfast.

Each day dinner and breakfast will be at the lodges/tea houses where we’ll stay. And for launch, we will stop on the trail where you can order a meal as per your choice. Our Guide will help you to stop at the best possible places to eat.

4. Is travel insurance needed for trekking?

Yes, you need travel insurance including mountain trekking or mountain climbing. You must assure that your travel insurance policy covers this destination. Some of the insurance companies do not cover expenses above contain altitude. A rescue cost $5,000 just for the helicopter. So, it is the most need for the coverage of the expenses.

5. What if I am sick during the trekking period?

Our guides had a trekking certificate from the Tourism center. They are trained about the first-aid training for high altitude too besides other training and they always carry the essential first-aid kit during trekking trial. So that they can take care of you in the minor case in the mountains as our guide are 24 hours available for the service during trek.

But, in the case of an emergency, our Guide carries the local sim card to be in contact with the office in Kathmandu. Our guide keeps on updating the situation of the Client, then the office will be managed to send the Helicopter in the trail if the client is seriously sick in the mountain.

6. Can I add the extra days to my trekking route?

Yes, you can add the extra days to explore the destination. But, you must pay the extra charge to the company to cover your expenses for the accommodation, food, transportation, and the charge of the Guide and Porter for the extra days.

7. What is the alternative option of the trekking destination beside Makalu Base camp and Arun Valley Trekking?

8. How do I book this trip with your company?

At first, you must fill-up the form with your personal detail and trip detail with the date you preferred to start the trip, then you must send the 30% advance trip payment to our company in our bank account to secure your booking. But, if you cancel the trip then 10% advance trip payment will be non-refundable and 20% will be refunded on your account.

On receiving your 30% advance trip payment and following personal document like a passport with scanned or photocopy, along with booking forms, then we will send you a full confirmation letter with the deposit as well as receipt of advance trip payment.

You can deposit advance trip payment through the bank account or Visa card, Master Card. And you can clear the remaining payment after you arrive at Kathmandu, Create Himalaya Office.

Trip Introduction

February to Mid June, September – November is the best season. Dec & January is Winter. July & August is a rainy time, trekking can be done but visibility can be poor due to rain.
