Overview

The Snow Leopard Trek 2027 is a rare opportunity to travel into the high Himalayas of Nepal in search of the elusive Himalayan snow leopard, one of the world’s most remarkable mountain predators. Organized by Create Himalaya Adventure, this journey combines a scenic overland journey, a short Himalayan trek, and six dedicated days of wildlife exploration in the Manang region.

Our journey begins from Kathmandu and heads northwest through the changing landscapes of central Nepal toward Chame, the gateway to the upper Manang Valley. From Chame, we trek through Pisang and continue toward Manang, gradually entering the dry, rugged landscape characteristic of the rain-shadow region of the Annapurna Himalayas.

At approximately 3,540 meters, Manang becomes our base for the main purpose of the trip: searching for the Himalayan snow leopard. The surrounding mountains, cliffs, rocky slopes and alpine valleys provide important habitat for snow leopards and their prey. Instead of rushing from one destination to another, we dedicate six full days to wildlife exploration, allowing time to observe the landscape, follow promising signs and patiently scan the mountains.

Snow leopard watching is very different from ordinary sightseeing. These animals are solitary, secretive and exceptionally well camouflaged against the rocky Himalayan terrain. Our local team will use their knowledge of the area, recent wildlife information, tracks, prey movement, weather and visibility to choose suitable observation locations each day. Although a sighting can never be promised, spending several consecutive days in suitable habitat gives us more opportunities to encounter this magnificent animal in the wild.

The experience is about more than the snow leopard itself. You will travel through traditional mountain villages, walk beside the Marsyangdi River, see dramatic Himalayan peaks and experience the distinctive culture and landscapes of Manang. It is a journey for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, nature lovers and adventurous travelers who want to experience the Himalayas away from the usual trekking routine.

After the exploration period, we descend by road from Manang to Besisahar before returning to Kathmandu.

Why Choose the Snow Leopard Trek with Create Himalaya Adventure?

At Create Himalaya Adventure, we believe a wildlife journey should allow enough time for the mountains and animals to reveal themselves naturally. That is why this itinerary does not treat Manang as a quick overnight stop. Instead, we dedicate six full days to focused snow leopard exploration, giving you more time to search, observe and appreciate the Himalayan environment.

Our team includes experienced wildlife photographers and local wildlife experts who understand the challenges of photographing and observing elusive Himalayan wildlife. Their knowledge can help you make better use of your time in the field, identify promising viewpoints and understand animal behavior while maintaining a respectful distance.

Our local team also knows the terrain, mountain communities and changing conditions of the Manang Valley. We keep the wildlife-search days flexible because the most suitable observation area can change according to weather, visibility, recent signs and wildlife movement.

We also place importance on responsible wildlife tourism. Our approach is to observe snow leopards in their natural environment without unnecessary disturbance. Rather than chasing or approaching wildlife, we use patience, distance and careful observation to enjoy the experience responsibly.

With Create Himalaya Adventure, you are not simply following a fixed trekking route. You are joining a carefully planned Himalayan wildlife experience supported by local knowledge, experienced guides and wildlife photography expertise.

Important Note About Snow Leopard Sightings

The Snow Leopard Trek 2027 is a wildlife-search expedition, not a guaranteed-sighting tour. Snow leopards are wild, solitary and highly elusive animals, and their movements cannot be predicted. Weather, visibility, terrain and natural behavior can all influence the possibility of a sighting.

Our six-day exploration period is designed to give travelers sufficient time in the field and to allow the local team to adjust observation locations according to conditions. The aim is to maximize the opportunity for a responsible encounter without disturbing the animal or its habitat.
